Bleach pens are a Godsend, especially in our house where a couple of Rembrandt & Picasso wannabe’s color on the walls at the ripe old age of 8-1/2 and 6-1/2. I remember the older kids having their phases, but they were done by probably 6 or so.
You can get them from the grocery store for about $4.19 and it has 2 oz of cleaner [$2.10 /oz] in it. They have two applicator tips on them, allowing you to dispense them through a brush or in a pen-like manner. I’ve seen them advertised for as much as $7.50 each and as little as $3.25 each when bought in bulk.
Some people use these for crafts as a kind of “reverse” tie dye.
I love everything about these pens except for the price. I decided to figure out how to refill them myself and after many months of experimenting I figured it out. Follow this link to http://BleachPenRefill.com to see how I did it…
You can use these to clean up just about anything. If you want to use your bleach pen on clothing, be sure it is either white, something that you have bleached before or test an inconspicuous spot for colorfastness. Or as you’ll see in one of the pictures here, you will remove the color from the shirt. I had some type of stain on this shirt that I couldn’t get out. I tried everything I could think of including pre-wash sprays, non-chlorine bleaches, grease fighters everything nothing worked. Since the brown spot was right on the white stripe ( and blue too) it was very obvious. I decided that I needed to pull out all the stops. I couldn’t wear the shirt anyway so had nothing to lose. Guess what’s in the rag pile now?
One of my cooking responsibilities is to make pizza every (almost every) weekend it is extra fun in the summer when the kids have all their friends over for “Pizza and Pop” night. The two most favorite kid pizza’s are either Plain cheese or Pepperoni. Both of these are usually made with a tomato sauce base. The sauce stains anything and everything, including our white cutting boards. I’ve tried any number of things to get the stains out and the best by far, is the bleach pen. I’ve used chlorinated cleaning power like Comet but that takes too long and requires elbow grease.
